Kirk Edwards was born in Hampton Iowa in 1978. Raised there, he attended the University of Iowa, graduating with a degree in Business in the year 2000. Leaving his life to chance, he moved to Gotham and began assisting Commercial Adventure photographer Jorg Badura. He took to the medium, quickly learning the craft, skill and quirks of the business.
Earning a reputation of a man of hard work and talent, he moved on to assistant fashion maven Steven Klein, where he honed an innovative knowledge of lighting and large size, traditional cameras. Eventually Kirk went on to assist Mark Seliger, infusing his skill of lighting with Seliger's unique gift for personal portraiture. After striking out on his own, Kirk received the honor of being named one of American Photo's 10 Best Young Photographers in America.
